about
If we build a girl, we build a family, we build a community and ultimately build the world.
Mission - empower and educate girls to love themselves mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually and present opportunities and resources that allow them to make choices that benefit themselves, their families, and their communities.
Vision - To see girls authentically VALUE themselves, execute the VISION for their life, and boldly use their VOICE for themselves and others
The Girls Identity Summit, Inc. (GIS) is a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. Our mission is to empower girls to see themselves the way GOD created them to be so they fulfill their divine assignment. Girls Identity Summit, Inc. is built on three pillars Community, Connection, and Collaboration. While GIS has chosen to focus on black/brown girls for their underserved needs, all girls are welcome to participate in our programs as our vision is for every girl to see themselves for who they are.
We believe if you build a girl, you build a family, you build a
community and ultimately you build the world!

Michele Patton Johnson wrote a curriculum for teenage girls thirty-something years ago and with the help of seven teenage girls gathered in her living room, the 10-week In Our Image curriculum was birthed.
Little did she know that this curriculum and her experience overcoming low and unhealthy self-esteem would be the catalyst for the Empowered to SEE Me Girls Identity Summit.

"I have always felt a pull toward helping girls realize that they are so much more than meets the eye. I never want a girl to feel the way I did about myself and then become a woman that feels the same way."

Thirty-something years later, in 2018 the first Girls Identity Summit was hosted in South Bend IN, Michele's hometown. She wanted to give back to the girls in the community that she grew up in.
Now as a Certified Life Coach, Human Behavior Consultant, Image Consultant, Author, Inspirational Speaker, and 20-year military veteran, she brings her passion and experience to her assignment to serve and build girls and their mothers/caregivers.
